Area of Concentration

NATURAL DISASTERS AND RISK MANAGEMENT

The Professional Master’s Degree in Natural Disasters covers the study of geological, meteorological and hydrological processes, including coastal processes, which define the environmental susceptibility to events causing natural disasters and studies related to social vulnerability, from the perspective of risk management and natural disaster management.

The PPGDN’s area of concentration encompasses technical and social approaches to the phenomena and problems arising from risk situations and natural disasters. It includes two lines of research: one dedicated to topics on the environmental susceptibility to natural phenomena causing disasters, and the other addressing socio-environmental vulnerability to extreme events and topics related to the management of risks and natural disasters.
